The Story of Einstein - by Darla Rupert

It was the beginning of August 2005. I had contacted a Dalmatian rescue group in Houston regarding a deaf female puppy up for adoption. I filled out the application and Ann Rutledge of Dalmatian Rescue of North Texas offered to come out and do an inspection of my home. After many e-mails, I had second thoughts about getting another female, deaf Dalmatian. You see, I’ve had one for 10 years. I e-mailed the group and changed my mind.

Here entered God’s wonderful intervention. Ann Rutledge immediately e-mailed me and asked me if she could bring four puppies she was picking up from an animal shelter in Athens, Texas to my house in Rockwall. It was August 20, 2005 when I fell in love with the cutest boy on earth. I named him Einstein because within a couple minutes, I realized how smart he was. He was house broken the day I got him. He could sit, shake hands, lay down and roll over by the second day. He has never ruined anything in my house or anything I own. I kept him in a crate for the first two weeks and now he resides in my kitchen where he loves it very much. He has a nice dog bed and listens to Howard Stern in the morning and classical music in the afternoon!!! He and his older sister, Hollywood get walked an hour in the morning and an hour at night. In between it’s nonstop play!!!

It is October 18, 2005, and Einstein is four months old now. He weighs 26 pounds. He has the sweetest personality and gives me kisses anytime I ask for them. My big dog, Hollywood, is now 10 years old and initially hated Einstein. She was born deaf and has always been a lot of maintenance. She now has less health problems and is beginning to really play with Einstein. She still snaps at him once in a while, but she loves him as much as I do.

I would like to thank Ann Rutledge for my gift of unconditional love. He has brought so much happiness, light, health and love to my home, me and Hollywood.
